The Board of Directors of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) at a public meeting on February 11 approved the Decision on approving the maximum quotas that can be assigned to the winners of tenders for the purchase of electricity organized by universal service providers and last option providers.
According to ANRE, this solution should be applied by universal and last service providers to implement the principle of diversification of electricity sources, established by the latest amendments made by the government and parliament to the Electricity Law.
In accordance with this principle, universal service providers and providers of the last option must determine the winners of the auction organized for the purchase of electricity, at least two bidders, ranked in ascending order of prices, which supply the amount of electricity from different sources sufficient to meet the needs of end consumers served by supplier.
Thus, the maximum quotas will be calculated in accordance with the percentage difference between proposals from different sources offered at the auction, so that the weighted average price of electricity purchased by electricity suppliers subject to the principle of diversification remains unchanged, without being influenced by the price difference between potential winners, explains ANRE .
