Until March 31, the cost of electricity for the Republic of Moldova will remain at the current level, after which prices will rise and the question of how much they will rise remains open, says Valentin Trubchanin, general director of the Moldavskaya GRES.
“It is clear that with the rise in the price of natural gas, the cost of electricity should also rise, and grow by a multiple. At the same time, all parties want that there should not be a dramatic rise in prices, so that the population of Moldova, following the increase in tariffs for heat, gas, and other utilities, would not be stunned by electricity prices. At the same time, I want to emphasize that Moldavskaya GRES is not a social enterprise, we are a business. Therefore, here it will be necessary to look for some kind of golden mean, Valentin Trubchanin told the regional press.
He also stated that the price of gas is about 70% in the structure of the cost of electricity, respectively, in the face of a significant rise in the price of methane, there is little room for maneuver.
The manager of the plant, controlled by the Russian giant Inter RAO UES, assumes that only his company will be able to ensure a stable supply of electricity, and accordingly, a sales contract will be concluded with them.
It should be noted that in 2021, electricity generation at the station increased by 6% compared to 2020 and amounted to 4.99 billion kWh (in 2020 - 4.69 billion kWh), thus reaching an installed capacity utilization factor of 22, 6%, the highest in the last 10 years.
The increase in production was associated with an increase in the supply of electricity on the right bank of the Dniester.
